I really liked this book, the content of this book was very interesting. This is one of the books i actually got interested in. The opening pargraph really caught my eye. It sounds like a book someone my age and even possibly younger would be lured into continuing to read. The subject in this book really could draw a persons attention. The main character, Deanna, is going through what alot of girls could be going through right now. At a young age Deanna made a very big mistake, (having sex at 13), this may not be the situation many other girls are in but can relate to. Deanna's sex secrete got around and she did not have may friends at school, except for one boy, Jason. A new girl, lee, moved to her area and they became good friends.Lee and Jason Obviously met through Deanna, which they "fell in love" and are now dating, leaving Deanna alone. Deanna thinks that her father hates her because she was caught by him when she was being intimate with Tommy, 17. She basically convinced herself that she lives a horrible life. As a result, she gets a summer job at a local pizza place, Picasso's Pizza. With this job she is hoping tomake enough money by the end of summer to be able to afford to buy a house to live in with her brother, Darren, his girlfriend, Stacy, and their new baby, april. TO make things worst Deanna, and Jason kissed! At this time Jason and Lee had been dating for a while. Junior year was about to start back up and Deanna was terrified to go back. She had her same old bas reputation, and now did not have her best friends. On the first day of school her dad walks oin and actually has a normal conversation with Deanna for the first time in a long time. This makes her realize that forgives may take a while but it will come. She thinks of Lee and tries to make things right wioth her again. They meet up on he first day of school, at there samae old metting spot and walked in together. WithJAson also by thier side. The theme i would say of this story would be the farther you walk away form your problem, the longer the walk is back. If you dont try to fix a problem you have caused, it wont go away, it will haunt you until it is solved.

The book Story of Girl was about a girl named Deanna, who made some very bad choices and had to figure out how to fix them all. Her first mistake was having sex with a 17 year old boy named Tommy when she was just 13. After several months of sneaking out with Tommy, Deanna’s dad caught them having sex in the back of Tommy’s car. This changed everything for her when her Dad caught her. She thought she lost the love and trust of her parents. Also Tommy started rumors all over school about her. She was now known as the school skank. She also lost all of her friends but one, Jason. A new girl moved to town, Lee and she became her only friend. She eventually introduced Jason and Lee and they soon became girlfriend and boyfriend. They had the kind of relationship that Deanna only dreamed about. She was close to her brother Darren and his girlfriend Stacy but they had there own problems. Stacy got pregnant and they had a baby. Deanna wanted to leave her home so she came up with a plan to get a job and give it to Darren and Stacy so they could all move out at the end of the summer together. The only place she could get a job was Picasso Pizza. On her first day of work she discovered Tommy worked there. She almost quit but the nice owner Michael begged her not too. He also became a great friend to Deanna. Her friend Lee needed someone to talk to because she was thinking about having sex with Jason and wanted advice from Deanna. Deanna did not know how to give good advice so she ended up picking a fight with her instead. Lee went away on vacation with her friend mad at. Deanna’s next big mistake was kissing Jason. One night at work Tommy asks Deanna if she wants a ride home. She takes it! Instead of taking her home they go parking. They start kissing and he wants to go farther and she stops him. She gets out of the car and confronts and says everything she has been holding back for years. He apologizes and takes her home. She finally feels some sense of freedom after confronting him. The next night she confronts her father also, who she feels has judged her since the night she was caught. He questions her about getting ride home from Michael and she tells him everything she has been feeling. He leaves the house with out saying anything. She realizes how much better she feels and decides she must tell Lee about the kiss. The only way she can feel good about herself it to be honest with Lee. In the end the Jason tells Lee first. Deanna keeps putting off talking to Lee worried that she won’t forgive her. Sends her a note to meet her the first day of school. When Darren drops her off Lee is right were she asked her to meet her so she knew everything will be ok.
I think the lesson is people make mistakes, but you should always own the mistakes you make and try to make them right. In the end Deanna did this. She made up with her Dad and friends. She even forgave Tommy for putting her a situation she wasn’t mature enough to handle. I really liked this book.
I agreed with what the student 10crailr said about the book. I liked how she used a lot of detail to tell about the book and the lesson that she learned.
I read the review by Amanda Vivian I disagree with her review because I actually like this book and how it relates to so many teenagers. I like this title because it does go along with the whole story because Sara Zarr is relating to what happened to Deanna with a lot of girls dealing with this same situation.

I have experienced this, well i have only experienced something that is this bad as a teenager. It was the biggest fear of my life. I haven't experienced being caught "hooking up" or have sex but my sistuation was just as worse. I felt like i ruined my life forever, i never lost so much self esteem in my life and i never imagine something so bad happening to me. But everyone experiences something so horrid. And we all probably regret every bit of it.
The book "Story of A Girl" by Sara Zarr was very intriguing i thought. Its about a 13 year old girl named, Deanna, who faces cruel punishment with her life and her father after being caught having sexual relations and being "forced" into dating a boy named Tommy at a house party. The story included alot of dram,a forbidden love, loss of faith in her father, and a wreckless mind. Deanna and her brother are worried about becoming like their emotional father, and recognize that they can do the one thing he can't and thats to forgive and let go. Forgiveness plays a role throughout all the characters in one way or another and those who can manage it do it for themselves more than for others. In this National Book Award nominated first novel, forgiveness becomes an act of survival. Her father can't even bare to look at her and seems to hate her, and Tommy's stories have made most of the high schoolers in her small town think she is nothing but a "slut". And after dealing with the stuggle in that she is now hoping to make enough money to move out, Deanna takes a job at a local pizza place, even though Tommy works there too. Meanwhile she is dealing with her brother, who has become a teen father; his girlfriend, who takes off, leaving them with the baby; and her changing feelings about her only two remaining friends. The overview of this story is very cruel in the sense of losing your life mentally, physically, and emotionally. Her and her family have finally realized nothing will be the same and the strengths will never be stronger. They have all driffted and gradually grown weaker. This book caught my eye after reading the first few pages. I related to it so well with the thought of losing my family, faith, and trust. The characters are very vivid, the actions are well throught out and as the story progressed i got more interested. I enjoy reading about teenage situations that could happen in realife. I'm not saying i'm able to connect to them but the feeling of it is so strong i know exactly what someone could be put through. I would recommend this book to every teenager out there guys and girls, sexual or not, and whatever your mistake may be everyone could relate. Till this day we all mistakes, and we learn as we grow older. I've learned to open my eyes and realize the owrld around me, and to never trust no one but myself. I've learned that if i follow my mind and heart i'll be successful if i make the right choices. I believe you should never regret everything in your past because at one point in time thats all that made you happy. This is a great book for everyone. It relates in every way.
